Privacy Policy

This policy covers two websites run by author John Cathcart ("I," "me"): johncathcart.com and delta7books.com. It explains what personal information the sites collect, how I use it, and the choices you have.

What I collect

Newsletter signups. When you sign up for updates on johncathcart.com, I collect your email address and which books you want to hear about (Delta 7, Kailas Dreamer or both). When you join the Delta 7 dispatch list on delta7books.com, I collect your email address and which signup form you used. The two sites keep separate lists, so signing up on one does not add you to the other.

Contact messages. When you use a contact form, I collect your name, email address and message, plus what kind of reader you are (on johncathcart.com) or your subject line (on delta7books.com).

Site accounts. Sign-in on both sites is for site administrators. If you create an account, I store your email address and an encrypted password.

Technical information. Like most websites, these sites are hosted by providers that keep standard request logs, including IP addresses and browser types. Both sites load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your IP address and browser details reach Google when a page loads. Neither site uses advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. The hosting platform, Lovable, may record basic visitor counts, such as pages viewed, referring sites, device types and countries.

How I use it

• To send the newsletters and updates you asked for
• To read and reply to your messages. When you send a message, you get an automatic confirmation email and I get a copy of your message
• To keep the sites running and secure, and to stop spam

I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with advertisers.

Who I share it with

Only the service providers that run the sites:

• Lovable, which hosts both sites, stores data through Supabase, and sends email through its email service (which uses Mailgun for delivery)
• Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces

I may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

Links to Amazon, Goodreads and Facebook take you to those companies' sites, where their privacy policies apply. These are ordinary links, not affiliate links.

How long I keep it

• Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe. After that I keep your address on a do-not-email list so you don't hear from me again.
• Contact messages: as long as I need them to reply and keep track of the conversation, and no longer than three years.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any newsletter email. Unsubscribing on one site does not unsubscribe you from the other, so use the link in each one, or ask me and I'll remove you from both.
• Ask what I have, correct it, or delete it by using the contact form or emailing me. I'll respond within 30 days.

Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, and I'll honor them.

Children

These sites are for general and adult readers. Kailas Dreamer is written for young adults, but the sites are not directed to children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their information. If a child under 13 has signed up or written to me, tell me and I'll delete it.

Cookies

These sites do not set advertising or analytics cookies. If you sign in as an administrator, your browser stores a session token so you stay signed in.

Security

Both sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and data is stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable care to protect what you share.

Changes

If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how I use information I already have, I'll tell newsletter subscribers by email.
